Synthesis A
Polished blocks of resin – some encapsulating tar – sit on an illuminated shelf in a configuration reminiscent of a bookshelf. The light from the shelf reveals colours and shapes within the resin, emphasising distinct characteristics between each block. The clarity of the resin enables the viewer to explore the internal narratives of each ‘book’ without needing to be removed from the shelf.
Synthesis A is part of a body of work collectively named ‘Synthesis’. Synthesis is the study of a dialogue between two contrasting materials – resin and tar – and their negotiation for space and identity when forced through chemical manipulation to become a single unified entity.
Standard size 40 x 40 x 200.5cm made to order with a 4-8 week lead time.
