Residence, Palo Alto, USA
After seeing Ken’s work in the lobby of the Palomar Hotel in San Diego, the owner of this home in Palo Alto approached Ken and his team to create a personal installation.
With total creative freedom, Ken looked to nature for inspiration and found it in the soft curves and ephemeral character of wild spores. We began by crafting 350 porcelain orbs. Then, we arranged them in an intentionally random fashion. The cumulative effect of the imperfect, round shapes and their unique placement served to offset the strong geometric lines of the home, creating a fascinating study in contrast. And the client was so pleased with the results she forgave us for knocking holes in her wall.
