This month’s Artist of the Month is a talented artist-designer who lives and works between Torino and London. Roberta Verteramo had always been passionate about the design world since the early stages of her artistic life. As an artist, she always tried to capture the essence of artistic expressions. From performances to paintings, from art-design to sculpture, she fluidly experimented with all facets of visual art. Her projects have been selected by some of the most reputed Brands including Alessi, Kartell, Visonnaire Home, San Lorenzo Yacht and 88 Gallery London. As well as showcasing her works at major Italian and international art-design industry fairs such as Salone Internazionale del Mobile, Pad Fair, Decorex, Masterpiece Fair and Triennale Design Museum.
Background
Verteramo began her career attending Art School at Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin and at Polytechnic University of Fine Arts in Valencia. Her art sensibility was noticed by the Academy, that offered her a teaching position shortly after her graduation.
She continued on to become an international conservator of contemporary art, establishing the Triennale Museum laboratory in Milan, where she had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with internationally known artists and designers; Gaetano Pesce, Alessandro Mendini, Tomas Maldonado, Frank Gehry, Italo Rota and Fornasetti, among others. Her inspiration led her to design eclectic objects, which were presented at a private exhibition supervised by Philippe Daverio at Fuori Salone del Mobile 2011 in Milan. In 2014 she moved to London, where she has been active in the realm of luxury, crafting original and highly sophisticated artwork. Her work, Molecola café table, was displayed at Decorex 2016 in London.
Latest works
Later in 2016, Verteramo found her fil rouge in high-end luxury design. In her lavish artwork, “Jewel Paintings”, canvas is replaced by metals like silver, gold and bronze, skilfully covered with layers of resin mixed with rare pigments and embossed with precious stones. Verteramo interprets her clients’ vision with empathy, passion and exquisite craftsmanship, taking bespoke luxury to a new artful level.
She is currently producing a new accessories collection made in bronze, called Selene with a focus on the contrast given by geometric and organic forms; working alchemically with the materials.
“I look for the beauty that comes from the balance between these two opposing realities. It represents for me the essence that makes up every human being; the spiritual and the material side” – Roberta Verteramo
